Friday, November 5, 2010 Y 7:39 PM Ovals i. We creep up softly to the monte obscured by Flores Street and freeways. Urban comets whiz above. Taillights and the spectacle of a Tower watching out for us. ii. I could change shit for you. Stay. Dig the meaty parts of your calves Into my shoulder blades. Sigh. Press your feet into my throat. I could make Ovals in the sod. Endlessly. Irrevocable impressions, tattoos and toes. iii. I could make it so that you’re the only one. Could conjure an arroyo to make mud that will mask our tire troughs and raise the earth-scent. The 10 has torn hapless gaps into this photograph: atop my bike, this colchón and my Southside longing. Labels: Joe Jimenez, Ovals 0 comments Y 3:58 AM ok, ok so I know Nan Goldin is like the most obvious photographer people list off when they first start learning about photo but the reason I posted these was because I was thinking about what if Nan Goldin was creating work today, would her friends on facebook make them status pics? My mom added an image of mine as hers, but it's not like she likes how I document her. I was also thinking about photography today and how people who are photographers tend to not have 'glorious' facebook pics. They tend to be photobooth pics a lot of the times. I was also thinking about how Nan inspired so many people but somehow a lot of people tend to just have taken the romantic side of her images and not so much the pain and hurt. Beautiful people bleeding, dying and decomposing. As opposed to look at how cool and sexy I am, which is nice but in a way like most things has become repetitive and boring. Just thoughts, what do you think? I'm not used to not not having enough sleep, not like I once used to be. So anyways today on all my URB post I decided to make it House Day. It started it off with Kim Ann Foxman's new music video, then a Frankie Knuckles song, then this amazing new podcast and interview from Logo (the album cover I made for it is the image above) and then I ended it with giving away free Frankie Knuckles tickets.
